Last week, the Perry Middle School Commodores took on the Fleming Neon Pirates in middle school football. Fleming Neon got on the board first, but could not hold off the Commodores as they took the 28-6 win.
The Pirates ran back the opening kickoff to take the early 6-0 lead. The advantage lasted until the second quarter when the Commodores began to roll up the points.
Perry Middle’s first touchdown came in the second period when Braxton Whitaker hauled in a pass from Ethan Caldwell from three yards out. The conversion failed knotting up the score at six. The game went to the half tied.
The Commodores took the lead in the third period. Brackston Miller ran into the end zone from three yards out, and Donovan Engle caught the conversion for the 14-6 lead.
Moments later, Perry Middle was back in the end zone. This time Miller ran the ball in from five yards out. Martin Estep added the conversion, giving the Commodores the 22-6 advantage.
The final touchdown of the game belonged to Perry Middle. After a sustained drive, Ethan Caldwell ran the ball in for the score. The conversion failed setting the final score at 28-6.
