The Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Jenkins Thursday to take on the Cavaliers in high school football. The Bulldogs, winners of their past two games, were looking to extend their winning streak and go 2-0 in district play.
It did not take Hazard long to get on the board. The Bulldogs struck early with a strong drive that ended with a one-yard run by Nathan Higgins (7-0). On their next possession the Bulldogs scored on a five-yard pass to Jacob Roll (14-0).
The momentum continued to stay with Hazard in the second period. The Bulldogs went up 21-0 on their only touchdown of the period as Jordan Olinger hauled in a 10-yard pass from Evan Whitaker.
The early momentum in the second half went to the Cavaliers. Jenkins came out and put up their first touchdown on a three-yard run by Devin Kendrick (21-6).
The momentum did not stay with the Cavaliers long as the Bulldogs drove down the field on their ensuing possession and punched it in the end zone. Kody Arnett concluded the drive with a 13-yard run up the middle for the score (28-16).
The first score of the fourth quarter also belonged to Jenkins. Cody Childers finished off the drive with a 12-yard run (28-14).
Hazard finished off the game with a pair off late touchdowns. The first came on a two-yard run by Kody Arnett, while the second was a 17-yard pass from Evan Whitaker to Chris Hudson. The Bulldogs went on to win the game by the final score of 42-14.
The Bulldogs defense led the way as they collected two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Kevin Eversole was a perfect six of six on extra points in the game.
