The Perry County Central Commodores traveled to Somerset Friday to take on the Briar Jumpers. The Commodores fell behind early, and struggled all night trying to catch up.
By the time the contest reached midway of the second period, the Commodores were trailing 21-0. Late in the second period, Perry Central was able to break the ice. On a double-reverse pass, Nathan Pray hit Austin Pray. Austin broke several tackles to pull to rest a 28-yard scoring play (21-6).
Perry Central chipped another touchdown off the deficit early in the third period. Austin Burkhead recovered the onside kick to start the half, and 10 plays later the Commodores were in the end zone. Austin Pray ran the ball in from one yard out, and then tossed the conversion to Nathan Pray (21-14).
The next score came with 1:11 remaining in the game, but unfortunately, belonged to Somerset. The Briar Jumpers scored on a one-yard run to bring the tally to 28-14.
