Virginia Carolyn Carte Giordano, 80, passed from this life to the next on July 28, 2012. She was living at Riverside Retirement Home in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was a native of Hazard, born Nov. 25, 1931 to Morton Nelson and Virginia Creech Carte. Carolyn graduated from Hazard High School, attended the University of Kentucky, and then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for 10 years.
While there, she met and married Vincent Giordano and had a son named Vincent Nelson. She and her son returned to her home community of Hazard and the Hazard First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, shared her talents with flower arranging, and all the ways she was needed.
She will be remembered by her friends and family for her willingness to support and serve. She was a faithful nurse and caretaker for every baby that she knew, those of both relatives and friends. She is survived by her son Nelson, his wife, Nicole, three grandchildren, Ella, Ava, and Aiden. Also, she is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Davis, and a multitude of cousins, nephews, and nieces, who cherish her memory. One cousin who was especially dear to her was Dale Creech.
In lieu of flowers in Carolyn’s memory, the family suggests contributions to the Hazard First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
Memorial Services will be held at Hazard First Presbyterian Church at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012.
