The Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Corbin Saturday to play in the final round of the Cumberland Falls Invitational Tournament. Their opponent in this game was the host Lady Redhounds. The Lady Commodores were 1-1 in the tournament to date.
Perry Central started the game strong, and began to build a slight lead. By the horn, their defense had led them to the 25-18 lead.
The Lady Commodores began to cool off in the second period and gave up some of their lead. Going into the intermission Perry Central’s lead was cut to three (37-34).
Perry Central’s offensive skid continued into the third period, and they eventually saw their lead completely disappear. With eight minutes left to play, the Lady Commodores found themselves in the position of having to make up two points (48-50).
The Lady Commodores pulled out all the stops and cranked up the defensive pressure. The strategy worked, as Perry Central soon erased their deficit and took the lead. They were able to go on to the 64-62 win.
