The Hazard Lady Bulldogs hosted the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers in an afternoon matinee Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs fell behind early, but managed to come back strong. Late in the game, they would have to hold off a strong charge by Jenkins.
Jenkins came out firing early and posted an early lead. Hazard had trouble finding their range, missing several shots early. The Lady Cavaliers finished the period strong, and at the horn held the 11-8 lead.
The Lady Bulldogs exploded in the second period, and quickly erased their deficit while taking the lead. As they left the floor for the break, Hazard held a slim one-point advantage at 30-29.
A back-and-forth struggle ensued in the third period, with Hazard taking a small lead, and Jenkins cutting away at it. The third period ended with the Lady Bulldogs holding the 51-48 advantage.
Hazard would not be able to shake Jenkins in the fourth quarter. In fact, with only seconds remaining in the game, the Lady Cavaliers were within a single basket. However, the Lady Bulldogs would hit their free throws down the stretch, and took the 66-60 win.
