On Saturday, the Hazard Bulldogs took on the Leslie County Eagles, with the 54th district title on the line. The Bulldogs jumped out to the early lead, eventually rolling to the 55-32 win.
Hazard came out strong and quickly posted the double-digit lead. At the horn, the Bulldogs were on top 16-6.
The Bulldogs continued to post big numbers in the second period, while the Eagles also picked up the pace. Going into the break, Hazard was on top 32-16.
The third period saw the Bulldogs put multiple bench players in the game. Hazard continued to keep control of the tempo, and with six minutes left to play held the 45-23 advantage.
The game evened out in the fourth quarter, but Leslie County could do nothing about their deficit. Hazard went on to claim the crown by the final count of 55-32.
