On Sunday, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs and the Leslie County Lady Eagles kicked off the girls’ 54th district freshman tournament. The game was extremely close throughout, with the Lady Eagles pulling away at the end for the win.
Leslie County took the early lead, but Hazard managed to fight their way back. At the end of the first period, the Lady Bulldogs trailed 9-8.
The Lady Bulldogs again fell behind in the second period. But just before the horn, Hazard picked up a three, sending them to the locker room still trailing by one (19-18).
The Lady Bulldogs were able to steal the momentum in the third period, and eventually took the lead. With six minutes remaining to play, Hazard held the 28-25 advantage.
Hazard stalled in the final period, allowing Leslie County to come storming back. The Lady Bulldogs fell behind, and could not find another rally. Leslie County went on to take the win 42-32, putting them in the finals.
