The Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Rockcastle County over the weekend for a pair of games. In the first game, The Lady Commodores took on the Garrard County Lady Lions and came away with the 2-1 win. In game two, they took on the Rockcastle County Lady Rockets, leaving with the 3-2 victory.
The first game started slowly, with neither team being able to break the ice until the fifth inning. Perry Central got on the board first with a single run. Garrard County countered with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame (1-1). The only other run came in the seventh inning, and belonged to the Lady Commodores. The run lifted Perry Central to the 2-1 win.
Shelby Sheffield struck out nine and picked up the win.
Perry Central stats: Shaelyn Eversole 2 hits and 2 runs, Rachel Curry 2 hits and 1 RBI and Maddison Minks 1 hit.
In the final game of the evening, Perry Central took on the host Rockcastle County Lady Rockets. Perry started strong, but had to rely on a late run for the win.
Perry Central jumped on top 2-0 in the first inning, but later gave the pair of runs back in the fourth inning. The Lady Commodores would have to rely on a seventh inning run to steal the 3-2 win.
Shelby Sheffield got the win on the mound, again collecting nine strikeouts.
