HAZARD — Two cases involving a mobile meth lab allegedly discovered in Hazard are to be sent to the grand jury this month.

Last week, Terry A. Hendrix, 23, of Wooton, and 30-year-old Ashley L. McDaniel of Avawam, were arraigned on one count each of manufacturing methamphetamine and unlawful possession of meth precursor, both first offenses.

According to arrest citations, Trooper Derrick Combs stopped a silver 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Hendrix, on Town Mountain Lane just after 11:30 p.m. on April 4 for the rear license plate not being illuminated. After speaking to all subjects in the car, “the backseat passenger took off running on foot”; the resulting search of the car led troopers to find a meth lab in the vehicle containing several bottles with suspected items to manufacture methamphetamine.
