Bulldogs edge Pikeville in Panther Classic

The Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Pikeville on Saturday to play in the Panther Classic. The Bulldogs’ first opponent would be the host Pikeville Panthers. The game was tight throughout, with Hazard pulling out the win.

The two teams traded runs in the first inning. Nathan Stupart drew a walk, and later scored on a single by Jordan Olinger.

The game’s winning runs would come in the third inning. Austin Johnson and Jordan Olinger both picked up free passes and then scored on a double off the bat of Evan Whitaker (3-1).

Neither team scored down the stretch, and Hazard went on to win the game by the final count of 3-1. Griffin Wells got the win on the mound, going the distance, giving up two hits, one run and three walks, while striking out nine.
