Late last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Letcher Central Lady Cougars. The Lady Commodores got on the board first, and then held off a late rally by the Lady Cougars to take the win.
Despite multiple base runners for both teams, the first score of the game did not come until the third inning. Perry Central had a pair of runners aboard when Whitney Back drove a ground ball all the way to the fence. Despite a good throw home, Back was able to leg out an inside-the-park home run (three RBI).
The Lady Commodores were able to tack on another run in the fourth inning, giving them the 4-0 lead. The Lady Cougars put together a rally in the final inning, but had it cut short at two runs. Perry Central went on to win the game by the final score of 4-2.
Perry Central stats: Whitney Back 2 hits, 1 run and 3 RBI, Katey Pigman 1 hit and 1 run, Pam Sebastian 1 hit, Hannah Johnson 1 hit, Shaelyn Eversole 2 hits, Maddison Minks 1 run and Rachel Curry 1 hit and 1 run. Shelby Sheffield 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
