On Friday, the Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Belfry to participate in the Jim Vaughn Smith Invitational Tournament. The Bulldogs took on the host Belfry Pirates in a low-scoring affair.
Belfry got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Hazard came right back with a pair of runs in the third inning.
Cole Ratliff got things going with a walk. Ratliff then scored off a double by Jordan Olinger, who later scored on a JT Haynes single (2-1).
Hazard then took the 3-1 lead in the fourth inning with a single run. Josh Meehan got aboard with a walk, and later stole second and third. Meehan would then score on a balk. Neither team would score down the stretch, with the Bulldogs going on to take the 3-1 win.
Kameron Conley got the win, going three innings with one hit, one run, one walk and three strikeouts. Blake Lockhart had three innings of relieve with one walk and one strikeout. Griffin Wells got the save, getting one strikeout in one inning of work.
