The Hazard Bulldogs played the South Laurel Cardinals on back to back nights, and came away empty on both evenings. On the road, the Bulldogs fell 9-5, while at home the score was 12-7.
In the first game, at South Laurel, Hazard fell behind early as the Cardinals struck for four runs in the first inning, and four more in the second inning. The Bulldogs would only post a single run during the stretch (8-1).
The Cardinals scored their final run in the third inning, bringing the tally to 9-1. The Bulldogs put together a pair of rallies in the second half of the game, garnering a pair of runs in each. This would leave Hazard shy of South Laurel 9-5.
Hazard stats: Austin Johnson 1 hit and 1 RBI, Evan Whitaker 1 hit and 1 RBI, Josh Meehan 1 run and 1 hit, Cole Ratliff 1 run, JT Haynes 2 runs and 2 hits, and Jacob Roll 1 run, 3 hits and 3 RBI.
The second game saw the Bulldogs host as South Laurel got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top portion of the first inning. However, Hazard countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame (3-2).
The lead would not last long as the Cardinals exploded for six runs in the second inning (8-3), and four runs in the third inning (12-3). The Bulldogs would plate a run in the fifth inning (12-4) and three more in the sixth inning (12-7), but they would get no closer.
