The Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Manchester to take on the Clay County Tigers last week. The Bulldogs got off to a slow start, but finished strong to take the 8-1 win.
Clay County scored a single run in the first inning, and that would be the extent of both teams’ offense until the sixth inning when Hazard hit the Tigers with a barrage that would leave them reeling.
In the sixth inning, the Bulldogs exploded for eight runs. Jordan Olinger would score twice, and cap the frame with a two-run homerun. Hazard would not allow the Tigers a rally down the stretch, and collected the 8-1 win.
Griffin Wells got the win, going the distance, giving up one run on three hits, with one walk and 11 strikeouts.
Hazard stats: Austin Johnson 1 run, 2 hits and 1 RBI, Jordan Olinger 2 runs, 2 hits (HR) and 2 RBI, Josh Meehan 1 run, 1 hit and 1 RBI, Cole Ratliff 1 run and 1 hit, JT Haynes 1 run, 3 hits and 1 RBI, Jacob Roll 1 run, 1 hit and 2 RBI and Blake Lockhart 1 run.
