The Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Pike County Central Lady Hawks on Thursday. The Lady Commodores took the game earlier in the season by the score of 18-3.
Perry Central did not open the game as strong as they did in their previous match-up, but rather pecked away at Pike Central. The Lady Commodores scored a single run in the first inning, and two in the second frame to take the 3-0 lead.
The Lady Commodores added another run in the third inning, and at the end of four innings of play, they held the 4-0 advantage. Perry Central’s defense did their part in keeping the Lady Hawks off the board as they kept Pike Central from scoring with two or more runners in scoring position on three occasions.
Perry Central had a lapse in the fifth inning, allowing Pike Central to score a run on a throwing error (4-1), but more than made up for it in the bottom of the frame. The Lady Commodores’ bats came alive in the fifth inning as four consecutive balls went to the fence, and they scored seven runs to bring the game to a halt 11-1.
