On Monday of last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores took on the Letcher Central Lady Cougars in the 14th region softball tournament. The Lady Commodores took the early lead and held on for the 7-4 win.
Perry Central got on the board first with a single run in the first inning, but quickly gave the run back in the second. The Lady Commodores took the lead for good in the third inning as they notched a pair of runs (3-1).
The Lady Commodores got on the board again in the fifth inning, scoring two more runs, upping the lead to 5-1. Letcher Central made a run in the sixth inning, scoring three times, but Perry Central would counter with two, bringing the tally to 7-4.
Neither team would score in the seventh inning, giving Perry Central the 7-4 win and putting them in the semifinals later in the week.
