SLEMP—Motorists on KY Highway 699 should expect minor delays as a bridge has been temporarily reduced to one lane for minor repairs.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways District 10 out of Jackson, a bridge at milepoint 7.5 located in the Beehive community of Perry County, near Leatherwood, had one lane closed on Aug. 13 due to a hole in the deck of the bridge. Temporary traffic lights have been placed at either end of the bridge to control traffic.
“Personnel from the transportation cabinet’s central office in Frankfort evaluated the damage last week and developed a repair plan. A contract for restoration of the bridge deck will be advertised in September with an expedited completion date to ensure the work is done by the end of this year,” the department said in a press release on Thursday.
Until repairs are finished, the department reminds motorists to slow down and obey the traffic signals.
