Lady Bulldogs go 3-2 in Mountain Classic

Over the weekend, the Hazard Lady Bulldog volleyball team participated in the Champions of the Mountain Classic at Pikeville High School. The Lady Bulldogs started slow, losing their first two matches, but then finished strong, winning their final three matches including a win over Letcher Central.

Hazard lost their first match to Allen Central, giving up the game in straight games 25-20 and 25-17. The Lady Bulldogs then fell to East Ridge in three games 25-9, 17-25, and 15-6.

On the second day of the tournament, Hazard was on top of their game. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Greenup County in three games 25-19, 21-25 and 15-11. They then followed that with a three-game win over Belfry 25-22, 18-25 and 15-12.

The highlight of the tournament was their final game, a three-game match with Letcher Central. Hazard won the first game 25-18, but fell in the second 24-26, forcing a game three.

Hazard was able to come out strong in the third game, and held on for the 15-9 win, giving the Lady Bulldogs the match. It was the first match that the Lady Cougars had lost to a region foe in school history.
