The Perry County Central Commodores took their 1-0 record on the road this past Friday as they took on the Corbin Redhounds. Things did not go well for the Commodores from the onset as they were without starting quarterback Seth Napier.
Corbin was able to take advantage of several miscues by Perry Central and put three touchdowns on the board in the first period. At the first horn, he Redhounds were up 21-0.
The Commodore defense tightened in the second quarter, allowing but a single touchdown. However, the offense was again shut out. This sent the game to the half with Perry Central trailing 29-0.
The Redhounds struck again in the third period, bringing the tally to 36-0. The Commodores eventually got on the board in the fourth quarter as Tyler Fugate carried the ball to the end zone on a lengthy run. Fugate also added the conversion, setting the final tally at 36-8.
Perry Central stats: Passing: Nathan Pray 4 of 10 for 21 yards. Rushing: Devan Brewer 12 carries for 51 yards, Tyler Fugate 2 carries for 74 yards and 1 TD, and Nathan Pray 9 carries for 2 yards. Receiving: John Toomer 2 catches for 12 yards, and Tyler Fugate 2 catches for 9 yards.
