The Hazard Lady Bulldogs’ volleyball team defeated the Letcher Central Lady Cougars last week in tournament play. It was the first time the Lady Cougars had been defeated by a 14th region team since Letcher Central became a school.

This week, the Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lady Cougars in regular season play (best of five games). It would only take four games for Hazard to stun Letcher Central for the second time.

Hazard came out strong in the first game and never looked back as they cruised to the 25-17 win. In the second game, however, the Lady Bulldogs seemed to slow. Letcher Central pulled away late in the contest to take the 25-20 win.

Game three would see the Lady Bulldogs get back on track. Hazard once again cruised to the 25-18 win.

The Lady Bulldogs never faltered in the fourth game as they kept things under control. Hazard finished off the match with the 25-19 win.

Hazard stats: Sarah Pratt 3 kills, 21 assists and 2 aces, Maddison Niece 8 kills and 4 aces, Hope Clark 9 kills, 1 block and 7 aces, Andrea Stidham 2 kills and 2 aces, Marjorie Hammonds 8 kills, 1 dig and 5 aces, Ashleigh Bryant 2 kills and 2 aces, and Brinkley Chitwood 1 dig and 1 ace.
