Buckhorn splits pair on the road

The Buckhorn Lady Wildcats closed out their week on the road for a pair of games. The Lady Wildcats started with a 46-43 win over Oneida Baptist, and ended with a heartbreaking loss to Owsley County (41-44).

Despite hitting 44.4% from the floor (20 of 45 and 0 of 7 from behind the arc), and 61.5% from the free throw line (8 of 13), Buckhorn was able to pull out the 46-43 win on the road over the Lady Mountaineers. Kansas Rice scored 18 points for the third straight game to lead the Lady Wildcats in scoring. Hanna Gabbard led the team with 12 rebounds.

Buckhorn (46) Madison Couch 17 (7 rebounds), Hanna Gabbard 2 (12 rebounds), Natalie Gabbard 6 (8 rebounds), LaVaughn Henson 5 (2 rebounds), and Kansas Rice 18 (9 rebounds).

Buckhorn concluded their week at Owsley County. The Lady Wildcats were unable to pull out the win as the Lady Owls nipped them 41-44.

The Lady Wildcats field goal percentage dipped to 34.2 (13 of 38 with 2 of 12 from behind the arc), while their free throw percentage went up to 70% (21 of 30).

LaVaughn Henson led the team in scoring with 12 points, while Kansas Rice led the way with 11 rebounds.
