HUFF CREEK — Logan County gained another millionaire Saturday when a local resident won one million dollars in the Mega Millions Jackpot.
The winning ticket was purchased at C&L Super Serve at Huff Creek.
Owner Larry Trogdon said he was notified early Saturday morning by the West Virginia Lottery that a winning ticket had been sold at his store.
When contacted by The Logan Banner, Trogdon said that the ticket holder had just claimed the win.
“He didn’t know he won,” Trogdon said. “He just came in about 2 o’clock (Saturday) to check his numbers. He was a little excited.”
Although Trogdon knew the winner’s name, it is being withheld until the winner can present the ticket to the West Virginia Lottery.
Trogdon said he thought the winner was a coal miner who had just recently been laid off.
C&L Super Serve will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
C&L Super Serve also sold the winning ticket the mega Powerball winner Jack Whittaker at their former Hurricane location.
