Perry Central to celebrate Lady Navajo state champs

On Saturday, Feb. 15, Perry Central High School will host a big doubleheader of basketball action and the 20 year anniversary celebration for the M.C. Napier Lady Navajo State Championship basketball team.

The games and celebration will be held in the John C. Combs Arena.

The day’s schedule is: Perry Central boys take on Central Hardin in a 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. junior varsity and varsity game. The Perry Central Lady Commodores will take on Jenkins in a varsity game at 7:30p.m. Between the boys varsity game and the girls varsity game a ceremony will be held in honor of the 1994 MC Napier Lady Navajo State Champions. All players, staff, and fans of the Lady Navajo championship team are invited to attend and take part in this special celebration. There will be a reception in the school library beginning at 5:30 p.m. and then the team will be introduced and a video tribute will follow. Also, Mr. Basketball and Miss Basketball candidates Justin Johnson and Kayla Rankin will be honored as well as Lady Commodore Head Coach Randy Napier’s formal announcement as the Head Coach of the McDonalds All American Game that will be played on April 2, in Chicago at the United Center.

All Commodore fans and former Lady Navajo fans are invited and encouraged to come out and enjoy this very special day of basketball action and honor one of the greatest girls basketball teams in state history.
