On Saturday, the Perry County Central Commodore wrestling team hosted their annual Commodore Invitational Tournament. Despite the weather, eight teams showed up for this year’s event, and when the smoke cleared Perry Central came away with a second place team finish.

The Commodores’ numbers this season have left a few holes in their lineup. Each missing weight group costs the team when figuring team scores. However, Perry Central’s finish in each filled weight group was good enough to add up to a second place finish.

Harrison County walked away with the overall win in the tournament. Perry Central took second, followed by Pike Central and Whitley County.

Perry Central’s Darien Bauer took 1st place in the 170 pound weight division. It was the Commodores’ only first place finish.

Team finishes:

1st Harrison County

2nd Perry Central

3rd Pike Central

4th Whitley County

5th Letcher Central

6th East Ridge

7th Belfry

8th Phelps

Individual finishes:

2nd Bradley Caldwell 126 pounds

3rd Joe Melton 132 pounds

4th Dakota Stidham 132 pounds

2nd Austin Haney 138 pounds

6th Zack Thomas 145 pounds

1st Darien Bauer 170 pounds

3rd Jaden Ritchie 182 pounds
