HAZARD—Over 1,500 outages were reported in Perry County by Kentucky Power after tremendous storms swept through much of the region Thursday night, leaving flash floods, blown over trees, and dangerous driving conditions in their wake.

Classes were cancelled in Perry County District Schools Friday due to the conditions of roads and the lack of power in many areas of the county.

Officials with the Perry County Judge-Executive’s office said they had received more than 100 calls Friday morning concerning flooded roadways and downed trees on power lines and on roads.
