Early last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Jenkins to take on the Lady Cavaliers. The Lady Commodores scored late to force extra-innings, but could not complete the win as they fell 2-3.
Neither team would be able to score in the early innings of the contest. The Lady Commodores then traded a pair of runs for a single run in the fourth inning. Perry Central would then tie the game at two in the seventh inning, forcing an eighth to settle the issue.
The Lady Commodores would not be able to score in the eighth inning, and hoped to get another chance with their defense. However, the Lady Cavaliers would be able to take the 3-2 win with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Perry Central (2) W. Evans 1 run and 2 hits; M. Walker 2 hits; L. Fugate 1 hit; E. Eversole 1 run; and M. Minks 1 hit. Shelby Sheffield 8 innings, 3 runs, 7 hits, 2 walks, and 12 strikeouts.
