Last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Hyden to take on the Lady Eagles. The game was tight for the most part, but a big inning late by the Lady Eagles sealed the Lady Commodores’ doom.
Leslie County got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Perry Central would go on top in the fifth inning with a pair of runs, but would allow the Lady Eagles to tie the game in the bottom of the frame.
The Lady Eagles would break the tie in the sixth inning when they touched the dish four times to take the 6-2 lead. The Lady Commodores would not be able to recover from the blow, and dropped the game 2-6.
Perry Central (2) Shelby Sheffield 1 run and 3 hits; Mahayla Walker 2 hits; Lana Shepherd 2 hits and 1 RBI; Rachel Curry 1 hit; and Kim Riddle 1 run and 1 hit. Lauryn Fugate 5 innings, 8 hits, 6 runs, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Shelby Sheffield 1 inning, 1 hit and 0 walks.
