HAZARD—A boil water advisory was issued this week for two communities in Perry County.

Those living in the Krypton and Campbell Creek Mountain communities should be sure to boil any water they will be using for cooking or drinking, according to an advisory issued on Thursday, Aug. 14, by the City of Hazard.

According to the advisory, the Kentucky Department of Natural Resources and Environment Protection Cabinet, Division of Water, determined that the potential exists for bacterial contamination of the Hazard water system in those affected areas due to a main line break.

The boil water advisory will remain in effect until the threat of contamination has been eliminated and appropriate samples have shown the water quality to be of acceptable standards.
