ARY — An interim principal has been chosen for Robinson Elementary, just over a week after Scott Brown resigned from the position.

Estill Neace, the former principal at Perry Central, will serve in the interim position until a permanent replacement has been chosen by Interim Superintendent Jonathan Jett and the site-based council.

Jett confirmed the decision on Friday.

“When I met with the council they gave me a list of criteria that they would like to see in that person and I took applications for, I think, four or five days, and out of the list of applicants I felt like he was the most qualified person … to put in as interim,” Jett said.

Neace said he was excited for the opportunity to work as an administrator again at one of the highest achieving grade schools in the county.

“I know the community very well, I know almost all the staff that work at Robinson; I’ve had a good relationship with them the last several years,” Neace said. “I think that my past experience as an administrator at Perry Central, as well as at A.B. Combs and R.W. Combs, weighed into the decision making process.”

Neace said he plans to pursue the position full-time and become a permanent fixture in the community.

Neace stepped down from his former position as principal at Perry Central High School at the beginning of the year after the Kentucky Department of Education included the school in a list of persistently low-achieving schools.
