Open Forum Community Meeting
The Hazard Police Department will be having an open forum community meeting on April 12 at 6 p.m. located upstairs at the Hazard City Hall. Chief Minor Allen will be leading the meeting. He requests the presence of all Hazard residents at the open forum to discuss current strategies with the City of Hazard Police Department. Chief Allen welcomes everyone to attend and come ready to discuss current issues that you may like to have addressed.

Les Jongleurs to Perform
Les Jongleurs, a premier choir of 32 voices, will present a program of Sacred Music on Sunday, April 17 at 4 p.m. at Kentucky Mountain bible College at Van Cleve. The choir is directed by John Stegner and accompanied by former Hazard/Perry County resident and music teacher Bobbie Webb Bevins. There is no admission fee but a freewill offering will be taken. Come and enjoy an evening of fine choral singing from classical to gospel.
Men’s Basketball League
There will be an Independent Men’s Basketball League held at the Knott County Sportsplex beginning Sunday night April 3 for more information contact Rick at 606-216-3013.
A Walk to Remember
Please join us for A Walk to Remember, a memorial walk dedicated to parents and families who have suffered the loss of a child regardless of age, including unborn children. The walk will be held rain or shine on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m., at Hospice of the Bluegrass, 57 Dennis Sandlin MD Cove, in Hazard. To register your child’s name to be included in the walk, please call (606) 439-2111 by April 29.

Reforest your Coal Mined Land
If you own land that was surface mined for coal during or after 1980 that is primarily flat and covered with exotic grasses and shrubs and would like to reforest it with native hardwoods and American chestnuts from The American Chestnut Foundation, then contact Kylie Schmidt with Green Forests Work at 859-421-9222. Funding is available through the Cerulean Warbler Appalachian Forestland Enhancement – Regional Conservation Partnership Program and may cover a substantial portion of the cost.
