HHS Open House

Hazard High School will have Open House for the final grading period on Wednesday, April 20 from 3:30-5:30 in the school library, Midterm report cards will be available, as will teachers to discuss current grades within the system.

Yard sale

Delta Beta Sorority is having a Yard Sale on Saturday, April 23, in the parking lot of Dr. Shanna Couch Holliday’s Dental Office on 251 Morton Blvd. in Hazard, KY, just above Food City. All proceeds benefit charity.

Married Couples Retreat

Camp Nathanael will have a Married Couples Retreat starting on April 29 – 30. Registration is required. Call Camp Nathanael at 251-3231 for more information or to request a registration brochure.

Tea Party

The Hazard-Perry County Women’s Club will hold its Annual Tea Party on Saturday, April 30 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Hazard ARH Medical Mall. For more information, please call 487-3265.

A Walk to Remember

Please join us for A Walk to Remember, a memorial walk dedicated to parents and families who have suffered the loss of a child regardless of age, including unborn children. The walk will be held rain or shine on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m., at Hospice of the Bluegrass, 57 Dennis Sandlin MD Cove, in Hazard. To register your child’s name to be included in the walk, please call (606) 439-2111 by April 29.

Reforest your Coal Mined Land

If you own land that was surface mined for coal during or after 1980 that is primarily flat and covered with exotic grasses and shrubs and would like to reforest it with native hardwoods and American chestnuts from The American Chestnut Foundation, then contact Kylie Schmidt with Green Forests Work at 859-421-9222. Funding is available through the Cerulean Warbler Appalachian Forestland Enhancement – Regional Conservation Partnership Program and may cover a substantial portion of the cost.
