November is National Family Caregiver Month
November is National Family Caregiver Month. During this month all caregivers need to be honored for the many contributions that they make to the quality of life of the many care recipients that they provide care. During November the KY River Family Caregiver Program will be accepting nominations for Caregiver and a Grandparent Caregiver of the year. All nominations need to be submitted to the KY River ADD by November 30. VFW Toy Drive
The VFW in Hazard is collecting used toys for their Light-a-Child’s Christmas drive. Donations can be dropped off at the VFW Post 7387 in Hazard. For more information please call 436-4224.
Retired Teachers Meeting
Perry County Retired Teachers will meet Thursday, Dec. 1 at 1:30 p.m. for the annual Christmas Luncheon. Please bring a covered dish and a gently used or new ornament for our ornament exchange. Invite family and friends to join us.

Evening of Christmas music
The Voices of Appalachia at Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, KY, invite you to put on your best suits and dresses and join us for an evening of Christmas music in the Campbell Arts Center on the campus of ALC on Sunday, December 4th, at 7pm. Christmas events in Perry County
Looking for something to do to get in the holiday spirit? Perry County has the answer! It’s Christmas in a Small Town! For a weekend of holiday fun, come and join us on Dec. 9 and 10!
You can check out our ice skating rink and our 45-foot toboggan sledding hill at The Triangle in downtown Hazard on Friday night from 5 -9: p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, we’ll have the Christmas Parade at 4:00 and Santa Claus will lead the way! After the parade, he, Mrs. Claus and one of the elves will be available for free photos at the Triangle. And there will also be horse-drawn carriage rides available Saturday afternoon.
At 6:30 p.m., the “Christmas In A Small Town” musical performance, featuring the Hazard Area Community Choir, will be held at The Forum. This year’s event will be a salute to our very own WKIC and WSGS with many of your Christmas favorites.
You can also drive or stroll down Main Street to enjoy the numerous Christmas tree displays in Hazard and visit area vendors in the Triangle to do some of your Christmas shopping, keeping your dollars right here in eastern Kentucky.
And finally, Judge Alexander has spoken to Santa personally and he’s been assured that WE WILL HAVE SNOW AT THE TRIANGLE.

Christmas in a Small Town Salutes Radio Station
The Christmas in the Small Town salutes radio station WKIC/WSGS for 69 years of service in eastern Kentucky. Come and enjoy Christmas musical celebration on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hal Rogers Forum in Hazard. This production is part of the Appalachian Arts Alliance promoting and developing arts showcases and education in our area.
Christmas Encore Concert
The Hazard Area Community Choir will present a Christmas Encore Concert on Monday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church on High Street in Hazard. Please bring a non-perishable food or paper item for the HPCCM food bank as a special offering.

This time of year, as we begin to think of gift giving, the Perry County Conservation District would like to remind everyone of the recycling opportunities in the county. Electronics can be recycled at the County Garage in Christopher, weekdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Most things with an electrical cord will be taken in, except refrigerators, washers, dryers and stoves.
