Taylor Austin Dye, free spirit and “professional songbird,” performed at the Black Gold Festival on Friday, opening for country star Little Texas. Dye put her acoustic twist on classics such as Patsy Cline’s, Walkin’ After Midnight, bluegrass folk classic Pretty Little Mess, as well as covers of popular hits such as Little Big Town’s, Girl Crush and Free Fallin’ by Tom Petty. Dye brought in a full crowd at the festival, and her audience was quite engaged with her talented renditions, though she denied a request from a spectator who was quick to yell, “Free Bird!” after belting Janis Joplin hit, Me and Bobby McGee.

Dye is a 21-year-old from Booneville, and 2015 graduate from Georgetown College. She has since become a hit on her YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/taylordyemusic, where you can view some of her popular duets and covers.
