Man faces burglary, drug charges

HAZARD – A man from the Perry County community of Combs was arrested by the Perry County Sheriff’s Department on charges relating to drug possession and burglary.

According to the arrest warrant, on Oct. 14, John David Little, 32, of Combs, was caught in the outside storage building belonging to Jesus Torres Herrera. The arrest warrant says that Little was taking tools from the building when he was caught. The arrest warrant states that Herrera valued the tools at $1,032.00 and was retrieved by Herrera.

Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy Ruey Couch arrived on the scene and spoke with Little, who ran on foot and jumped in the river, according to the arrest warrant. Police say Little walked in the river down stream with water up to his waist.

According to the arrest warrant, Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn White retrieved Little, and searched him. Police say Deputy White found a bag of water soaked pills, which were in no condition to be identified by Poison Control.

Little was transported to ARH for medical clearance, and was admitted for observation.

Little was lodged into Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Little is facing charges of one count of second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, one count of third-degree burglary, one count of second-degree possession of controlled substance, one count of prescription controlled substance not in proper container, and one count of resisting arrest.
