An 18-wheeler crashed into the guardrail in Glowmawr near Booneledge Friday morning, sending the truck then into a 100-gallon gas tank, resulting in multiple explosions. According to officials, the men were driving a cattle truck, though no animals were present during the crash. Oil spilled and covered the road, and all four lanes of traffic were closed for several hours, causing major delays. The two passengers of the truck were in route to Nebraska, and neither were harmed or injured.
Highway officials expect to have the damaged guardrail repaired by next week.
