Roy G. Eversole Elementary hosted a school-wide pumpkin decorating contest. Each class used a book they purchased from this years book fair as inspiration. Kim Mcnamara with FRYSC, was in charge of the contest and said they wanted to find a way to get the kids interested in reading, and have been working on the pumpkins since Oct. 1. The winners will receive a class pizza party, and other participants will receive a Popsicle party. The contest was judged by the PTO, and ultimately came to a tie between two classes, Mrs. Cornett’s class, who read, “Moosetache” by Margie Palatini, and Ms. Smith’s class who read, “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books” by Lucille Colandro. The pumpkins were displayed in the cafeteria where all the students and faculty could admire them.
