Lexington — Hospice of the Bluegrass was recently recognized for extraordinary investment, commitment and achievement in providing quality end-of-life care to veterans and their families. The award was presented during the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s annual conference in Dallas. Hospice of the Bluegrass is a We Honor Veterans Level 4 partner which is the highest distinction a hospice provider can receive.

This recognition event was a part of a 5th anniversary celebration of the We Honor Veterans program. We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), is a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment. By recognizing the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families, community providers, in partnership with VA staff, will learn how to accompany and guide them through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending.
