Despite rain and clouds, the second annual Raven Rock Golf Scramble managed to raise over $4,000 on Oct. 3 for the Kentucky River Children’s Advocacy Center located in Hazard. Director of the agency, known as “The Care Cottage”, Teresa Humble, recently released the figures. All amounts raised through the month of October will be matched by the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky.
“My staff and the board of directors have been unbelievable,” she stated when asked about the success of the project. “They rounded up sponsors, door prizes, and golf teams. I am so grateful to everyone who made this possible with their contributions,” she said. There were eight golf teams that participated in the event conducted at the Raven Rock Golf Course in Jenkins.
