City Hall answers blue monument challenge.

You may have noticed something different on Main Street in Hazard; a glow of blue shines on City Hall and the old courthouse after sunset to bring awareness to American Diabetes month. World diabetes day is Nov. 14; however, Mayor Jimmy Lindon, Perry Country Judge-Executive Scott Alexander, as well as Ashley Harkins, RN with the Hazard Health Department collaborated to celebrate the entire month of November. Perry and Knott counties are participating in the blue monument challenge, where a blue light is shown on major monuments within the town. The health department will soon be offering diabetes prevention classes, and have already established a diabetes program where they offer nutrition classes.
