HAZARD- On Thursday, Kentucky HWY 15 was closed for several hours because of a two-vehicle collision. The accident happened around noon. The closing stretched from Hardee’s to the Bluegrass Exit. Firefighters with Hazard Fire Department and officers with Hazard Police Department (HPD) responded to the accident.
Capt. Paul Campbell, with Hazard Police Department, was one of three recontrucctionists that reconstructed the wreck. The vehicles that were involved in the accident were a white Chevy Tahoe and a orange Cadillac CTS Sedan.
Capt. Campbell told The Herald that one person had been ejected from one of the vehicles and was found laying on the road. Another individual had to be rescued with jaws of life because of entrapment.
The three individuals involved in the accident were transported to a medical facility, with one of them being transported to UK Hospital in Lexington.
The investigation of how the wreck happened is still ongoing, but Capt. Campbell felt confident in the investigation because of the evidence obtained during the reconstruction of the wreck and statements made by witnesses.
