HAZARD — Good news for those who rent in Hazard, the website www.valuepenguin.com recently conducted a study to find the most affordable cities to rent in the state. The City of Hazard ranked in the top 20 cities with the cheapest renters insurance at the 16th spot with the average premium rate at $293. Whitesburg ranked first in the state for the highest premium renters insurance.
Valuepenguin.com’s study examined quotes for a 1,000-square-foot residence with a minimum of $25,000 in personal property coverage and $100,000 in liability coverage. They gathered data from five major renters insurance carriers across 95 municipalities. They also gathered and analyzed censuses throughout the state.
The average Kentucky premium is $302. The most expensive renters insurance is Whitesburg at $361. That is 19.4 percent higher than the state average. Hazard is 3.1 percent lower than the state’s average.
Valuepenguin.com gathered and analyzed data from more than 95 cities in Kentucky.
