East Perry competes in state speech


All 10 students advanced to state

HAZARD — The East Perry Speech and Drama Team finished off an impressive year with a trip to the KHSSL State Tournament on the University of Kentucky campus last weekend. All 10 students on the East Perry team qualified for state competition in their individual categories.

The team brought home a School of Excellence award, which they earned by accumulating points over the course of the entire season. The school’s principal, Clifford McIntyre, has expressed continued support for the team, as well as Superintendent Jonathan Jett, the Board of Education and the students and staff of East Perry Elementary.

These are the East Perry Speech and Drama Team members, who represented Perry County at state competition: Kinnley Johnson, Rachel Feltner, Riley Feltner, Jazmen Fugate, Jacob Butler, Sheridan Combs, Brady Adams, Jaden Fields, Allie Combs and Ryann Brashear. The team is coached by 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Kaitlyn Kelly.
