Richard Lee Beverly (Oct 1,1935-Apr.9, 2016), died after a long battle with lung disease. Richard was born in Hardburly. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for 9 years. After the service he moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he worked in the steel mills, but returned many years later to marry his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Tyler Beverly. He worked at First baptist Church during his retirement years because he loved people. You never met him on the street without a smile and a “How you doin’?” Richard was preceded in death by his parents Carl Beverly and Polly Ann Fugate, his brother Carl “Bud” Beverly Jr., and his sister Rosenell Beverly Patrick. He is survived by his wife Wanda Beverly, his brothers Darrell Beverly, Harold Beverly, his sister Brenda Beverly Bryant, and stepsister Joyce Beverly Smith. His children are Sharon Beverly of Baltimore, Maryland, and grandson Nick; his son Bill Combs of Pikeville, wife Teresa and grandchildren Katie and Andrew Thacker; daughter-in-law Kathy Combs of Hazard and grandchildren Angela Holbrook and Ashlee Bell; his daughter Cheryl Marsh of Fort Worth, Texas, husband Richard Marsh, and grandchildren Aaron Marsh and Sarah Lizzy Marsh; his daughter Susie Oliver of Jackson, Tennessee, husband Dub Oliver, and granddaughter Callie Oliver; his daughter Jennifer Caudill of Lexington, husband Bryan Caudill, and grandsons Austin Caudill and Andrew Caudill. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren. A celebration of his life is scheduled for April 14 at 6:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Hazard.
