SCUDDY — A security guard is in critical condition after Kentucky State Police (KSP) say he was assaulted during an armed robbery that happened at Mike’s Game Room in Scuddy over the weekend.
Cody Miller, Jeremy Coots, Valeria Noble, Steven Morris and Derika Morris were arrested by KSP on charges relating to armed robbery.
The security guard, Otis Combs, was airlifted to Pikeville Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
Comb’s wife, Vicki Combs, called 911 Saturday night saying her husband had been assaulted.
KSP Troopers, along with Perry County EMS, responded to Mike’s Game Room around 11:54 p.m.
During the robbery, police say three men and two women had stopped at Mike’s Game Room. The business was closed during the incident.
Police say two of the suspects knocked on the business’s door. The door was answered by Combs.
After opening the door, KSP say Miller struck Combs in the head. Miller, Coots, Noble and Morris all entered the building.
Authorities say during the robbery, Combs and his wife were continually assaulted, while a Shannon Engle and Betty Sue, who were in the game room during the incident, were held at gunpoint while money and personal belongings were taken from both individuals.
A Chrysler 300 getaway vehicle was driven by Morris, KSP say. All five suspects left the scene in the getaway vehicle, police say.
KSP Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and arrested Steven and Derika Morris.
An investigation by KSP led to the arrests of Miller, Coots and Noble.
All five were transported to Kentucky River Regional Jail were they were lodged in.
They are facing charges of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.
Detective Brandon Thomas with KSP Post 13 is leading the investigation.
