HAZARD—A boil water advisory has been issued by officials with the City of Hazard Water Plant this week.

According to a release from Hazard City Manager Grady Varney, a boil water advisory was put in place for all residences and businesses from Holliday Farm on Hwy 476 to the new bridge at Little Buckhorn to the end of the line on Monday, July 13.

The potential exists for bacterial contamination of the Hazard water system due to a main line water break in that area, the release reads.

The advisory will remain in effect until the threat of contamination has been eliminated and appropriate samples have shown the water quality to be of acceptable standards. Until then, all people serviced in that area by the Hazard Water System should boil their water before consumption.
