HAZARD — Hazard Police Department (HPD) executed a search warrant that resulted in an arrest of three individuals on Thursday. One of the individuals is accused of trafficking in methamphetamine.

Police closed off Cornell Avenue during search warrant.

Donald Joe Combs, 38, of Combs was arrested on charges of first-degree and first offense trafficking in a controlled substance and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia.

Crystal C. Hensley, 37, of Hazard was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, driving on DUI suspended license, second-degree possession of a controlled substance and controlled substance prescription not in original container.

Also arrested was Alma G. Combs, 35, of Hazard on charges of public intoxication.

According to HPD, they received several complaints of drug activity at the residence of Donald’s.

HPD were able to obtain enough information during the investigation to obtain a search warrant on Donald’s residence on 351 Cornell Ave and executed the search warrant on Thursday.

During the search warrant, HPD say they found three Ziploc bags that contained crystal methamphetamine in Donald’s pants pocket.

HPD also say they found another bag of crystal meth in Donald’s bedroom under his pillow. They found a meth pipe underneath his bed and $320 cash in his wallet, an arrest citation says.

During the execution of the search warrant, HPD say Hensley and Alma pulled up in a red Chevy Cavalier at Donald’s residence.

According to HPD, Alma told officers that Hensley was driving the vehicle.

Hensley also told officers that she was the one behind the wheel, HPD say.

HPD says officers observed Hensley appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

An officer said they could not smell any alcoholic beverages coming from Hensley, but she appeared impaired.

The same officer gave her three field sobriety tests and according to an arrest citation, she failed two of them.

Alma, who was the passenger in the vehicle and owner of the vehicle, gave officers consent to search her vehicle.

According to HPD, officers found a Zippo lighter stripped of its insides with a Suboxone strip hidden in it.

HPD say Hensley told officers that the Suboxone strip was hers. She told officers that she did not have a prescription container for the Suboxone.

She also told officers that she took a strip of Suboxone and had taken one Nuerotin.

On the way to the hospital, HPD say Hensley admitted to shooting meth.

All three individuals were placed under arrest and transported to Kentucky River Regional Jail where they were lodged in.
