HAZARD — A Perry County man was arrested Sunday night by Hazard Police Department (HPD) on an indictment warrant that accuses him of a 2014 murder.
Alan D. Williams, 31, of Hazard was indicted last month on one count of murder, a Class A felony.
According to the indictment, Williams stabbed Edward Hughes in the chest with a knife in December 2014 killing him.
HPD say Williams was arrested at America’s Best Value Inn and was taken into custody without incident.
Officers had originally went to the hotel because of a report that a woman was in danger.
Williams was taken to Kentucky River Regional Jail where he was lodged in.
Bail was set in the amount of $500,000 cash plus MCR and home incarceration.
He is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. in the Perry County Circuit Courtroom.
