HAZARD — Hazard Police Department (HPD) executed a search warrant on Walnut Street Thursday night. The search warrant resulted in one arrest and the seizure of marijuana and cocaine.

According to an arrest citation, HPD officers detained John W. Miller, 37, of Hazard outside his house and the citation says officers later realized Miller had placed a bag of marijuana under a box he was sitting in front of.

The citation says that upon searching Miller’s residence, officers found 9.3 grams of cocaine in Miller’s bedroom.

They also found money that was used in a controlled buy of cocaine conducted by HPD officers in Miller’s bedroom, the citation says.

According to the citation, a container was found that had digital scales, scissors and plastic baggies. The citation says the instruments were used to package the drugs.

Miller was arrested and transported to Kentucky River Regional Jail where he was lodged in.

He is facing charges of tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, first-degree and first offense trafficking in controlled substance and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia.

Miller is scheduled to appear in the Perry County District Courtroom for arraignment on Aug. 1.
