HAZARD — The Hazard ARH has experienced numerous changes since the day the hospital first opened at its current location. The Gift Shop, however, looked basically the same for nearly 30 years, until this week.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Aug. 10 to celebrate the grand opening of Hazard ARH’s newly remodeled Gift Shop. The shop is in the same location, on the first floor near the main entrance. Yet the appearance of the Gift Shop is entirely new. Shoppers now have more room to browse thanks to an expansion of the space. The re-configured layout also gives shoppers more room to roam. Now, the entire front wall and doors of the Gift Shop are glass, allowing visitors to scan the entire shop from the hospital’s lobby. The Gift Shop’s interior design has also been modernized.

According to Shirley Campbell of ARH, the renovations took about 6 weeks to complete. Now the facility is fully opened to the public. The Gift Shop is operated mostly by volunteers. Several local officials and members of the community were present to enjoy refreshments and watch the ribbon cutting ceremony, which was conducted by the Hazard Perry County Chamber of Commerce.
